Visions, Frame By Frame

Rafael Mishan is a professional 1st Assistant Camera operator who has spent the past 17 years leading camera departments on major streaming and television productions, including Gen V, Titans, and Revival. He managed complex multi-camera setups, collaborated with Steadicam and Ronin operators, and supervised junior crew members to ensure precise execution under demanding conditions.

Rafael Mishan

Rafael Mishan is an experienced 1st Assistant Camera (AC) and union member of IATSE 667 who has
worked in the film and television industry for more than seventeen years. For the past five years, Mr. Mishan
has served as A Cam 1st Assistant Camera on a wide range of long-format productions, supporting
complex camera builds across both narrative features and episodic television. His recent credits include
high-profile streaming and cable series Gen V (Amazon Prime), The Hardy Boys (YTV/Corus), Circuit
Breaker (Apple TV), and Revival (Syfy), where he was responsible for camera setup and managing multi-camera configurations on large-scale sets. Rafael has worked alongside Steadicam and Ronin operators, overseeing lens matching and data logging, while ensuring seamless communication between directors of photography, camera operators, and digital imaging technicians.

As lead AC on these sets, he managed junior camera department personnel and ensured
production timelines were met on technically demanding shoot days.
Rafael previously spent several years supporting commercial, television, and independent film
projects as both A Cam and B Cam 1st AC. He deepened his technical expertise across a range of camera
platforms, including Arricam 35mm Film, 16mm Film, Sony Venice II,  Alexa Mini LF/35, and RED systems.

Rafael has also developed proficiency with various anamorphic and spherical lens systems. He worked on an award-winning TV films like Abducted Off The Street: The Carlesha Gaither
Story, which earned recognition at the Canadian Screen Awards. Rafael oversaw camera department
prep, gear checkout and return, and coordination with rental houses to maintain equipment integrity across
extended production schedules.


Mr. Mishan began his career in Toronto as a camera trainee and 2nd AC following his completion of formal
studies in film and post-production. He attended Humber College for post-production in 2007 and then
completed Sheridan College’s Advanced Television and Film program in 2009. He moved into more senior
roles on set, gaining hands-on experience with 35mm and 16mm film formats and a wide range of digital
cinema tools. He has completed several specialized certifications, including lens technician workshops for
Zeiss, Cooke, and Angenieux in 2017, and the SOC Steadicam Operator Workshop in 2023.
